- Identify how biological agents effect the durability of wood products installed on the exterior envelope; how these conditions can lead to product failure and how these factors can be remediated.
- Identify the effects environmental factors play in compromising the dimensional stability of wood products.
- Distinguish common installation mistakes and preventable measures that can be taken to ensure that wood products reach their maximum lifespan on the exterior building envelope.
- Evaluate methods for increasing prolonged durability of wood products.

As the National Energy Code for Buildings, the International Code Council, and other organizations set higher energy efficiency requirements, and as the industry continues to recognize the role building enclosures play in overall building performance, Continuous Insulation (CI) is no longer the exception, it’s the rule! This course provides an overview of CI, how CI addresses several building envelope design challenges such as thermal bridging, and application/product considerations for various structures. In addition to reviewing the CI considerations, this presentation also offers a review the 2021 IECC updates that affect the building code requirements.
